Rabbi’s Bio

Rabbi Erin Boxt was raised in Columbia, South Carolina, where he served as a religious school teacher and very active member of the youth group in his congregation, Tree of Life. It was there, in 1992, that Rabbi Boxt met Rabbi Gary Zola, then the Dean of Admissions at Hebrew Union College. Rabbi Boxt attended two conventions at HUC in Cincinnati, making connections to the city of Cincinnati and HUC that would last for almost 20 years!

After graduating from High School in 1994, Rabbi Boxt attended the University of Georgia, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in May, 1999. After graduating from UGA, Rabbi Boxt lived and worked in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, Jerusalem, Israel, Baltimore, Maryland, Phoenix, Arizona and Atlanta, Georgia.

In the summer of 2008, Rabbi Boxt, along with his wife, Batya and daughter, Carlie, moved to Jerusalem to begin the five year HUC rabbinic student journey. While at HUC, Rabbi Boxt served as student rabbi in the following congregations: Temple Beth Isaac in Trenton, Michigan, Temple Meir Chayim in McGehee, Arkansas, and Congregation Beth Shalom in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. In his final year of rabbinical school, he served as the rabbinic intern at Temple Adath Israel Brith Shalom in Louisville, Kentucky. Rabbi Boxt also served as the Chaplain for the Wyoming City Fire Department while living in Cincinnati.

In June, 2012, after Ordination, Rabbi Boxt became the Assistant/Associate Rabbi at Temple Kol Emeth in Marietta, Ga, where he served until June, 2017. Rabbi Boxt and his family are excited to begin the next journey of their lives in Knoxville, Tennessee at Temple Beth El!
