Rabbi Mark Schiftan

Rabbi Mark Schiftan, our resident Rabbi recently retired as the Senior Rabbi of the Temple, Congregation Ohabai Shalom, in Nashville, after twenty-three years of service. I was blessed with a wonderful tenure during my time there, and I look forward to sharing my wealth of wisdom with your congregation in Knoxville.
I’ve been blessed with a total of thirty-five years in the congregational rabbinate, and I’m looking forward to this next chapter with all of you. I look forward to building relationships that are authentic, strong and deeply meaningful and rewarding.
We have all been impacted and isolated by the pandemic over the past two and a half years, and so the coming year is one in which I hope we can reestablish and increase our connections with one another. We hope to do this through a variety of learning opportunities and discussions, services that include dialogue between the pulpit and the pew, and through one-on-one meetings as well.
I’m looking forward to meeting many of you in the time ahead and, of course, over the High Holy Days.
May we grow together, from strength to strength.
